Sync An Internet Calendar To Outlook 2007

There are calendars available online that can be shared with different applications on your computer. These internet calendars follow a common format and hence allow to be shared with different applications. Most internet calendars have the iCalendar format and have the file extension “.ics”. Follow the Outlook Help guidelines mentioned below to add an Internet calendar to Outlook 2007 application.
Adding Internet Calendar to Outlook 2007
  • Launch Microsoft Outlook 2007 on your computer. Choose the active profile that is configured in your Outlook.
  • In order to add an internet calendar, you first need to find a compatible calendar that supports webcal protocol which provides iCal files with the extension “.ics”. When you use an internet calendar with Outlook, you need to configure the public sharing settings in order to access it.
  • Access the Internet calendar configuration and search for iCal Web address. You can find this file which ends with “.ics”. Now copy this Web address to the clipboard.
  • You need to insert the copied URL into Outlook 2007. To do that, go to the “File” menu at the top of the Outlook screen and select “Data File Management”. Click on “Internet Calendars” tab and then click “New”. Paste the copied URL into the blank field and click “Add”.
  • Now it’s time to configure the calendar subscription. You may find the name of the calendar displayed next to “Folder Name”. If you want to add a different name you can change it. This is especially useful if you have multiple calendars added to your Outlook 2007. Using a description helps you to identify separate calendars easily. There is another option for downloading attachments from the Internet calendar. See this under “Attachments”. As a final step towards configuring the Internet calendar, decide whether you want to keep the subscription according to the publisher’s recommendations. Selecting this option will ensure that you adhere to the publisher’s limitations and avoid risking the account being suspended. Click “OK” to finish configuring the Internet calendar.
  • Click “Close” and return to Outlook. Now that you have successfully configured the Internet Calendar, it will be listed under “Other Calendars” in the Calendars section of Outlook 2007. Select this option to manage your calendar. You can add activities and reminders like you do with any other calendar.
